Like renegades resurrected from a dusty Johnny Cash record, The Old North State have emerged from Stanly County, North Carolina. Founded in 2019, Bart Lattimore set out to harness his vast musical influences and create something greater than an outlaw country cover band. Now in 2023, The Old North State continue to evolve and expand musically, sticking close to country roots, yet offering sound dynamics which are only fully appreciated during their live shows.
During their first few years, The Old North State had their share of band challenges, but collective fishing and hunting trips helped them identify critical members that include Dave Whitely (drums), Jason Burris (bass) and Cory Lowry (rhythm guitar). As a truly tight tribe, The Old North State have come a long way since their first gig in a VFW hall in Albemarle, including many Battle of the Bands wins and a national TV appearance on a NBC signing competition show. With each live performance, they collect dozens of new fans, loyal followers, and Facebook friends. The recent addition of Chandler Hutchinson on lead guitar has only amplified the live power of this southern band.
While most members still reside in Western North Carolina, this true blue-collar band can be found performing across the Carolinas as well as all parts of Virginia and Tennessee to meet anxious new fans each month. The Old North State (TONS) are adept at mixing well-known covers with their powerful originals, taking audiences of all ages on an incredible live musical experience. Frequently bare-chested lead vocalist, Bart Lattimore, combines authenticity and intensity with every song sung, leaving TONS of fans counting down the days until their next live show. Bart also became a spokesperson for Peanut Patch Boiled Peanuts after developing a jingle for them that’s being viewed by thousands across the southern states.
