We recently spoke to John Rich from Big and Rich about Gretchen Wilson and asked him for the story firsthand on how he met Gretchen Wilson. John said he met Gretchen working in a bar in Nashville and she had a great voice. An opportunity came up not much longer later and he called Gretchen to see if she wanted to work together. John was so funny, he said, “We were writing songs and Gretchen said, ‘I’m not fancy. I just am what I am.’ and John said, ‘What is that?’ and her reply is now famous ‘I’m a Redneck Woman.’ And you can guess, that’s where the number one hit song ‘Redneck Woman’ game from! Gretchen Wilson took a break from being on tour to be with her daughter, Grace who is now 16.
